FAQ
Below are some of the questions asked on a regular basis, we hope to answer most of your questions here, and inform you about a few things you may not have considered. If you still have a question we have not managed to answer on these pages don’t hesitate to get in touch. We are always happy to help.
What is your usual turn around time?
Advertees provides demonstration artwork and confirmation sales order by email for approval by the customer before going ahead with an order and we would advise a standard turnaround time of 2 weeks from confirmation of our sales order and artwork. We can often work to tighter deadlines, depending on our workload at the time and the complexity of your requirements.
If you have a deadline for receipt of your order, please ensure you notify us of this in the first instance.
Do not hesitate to give us a call free on 01872 561 044 to be advised of our current lead times, which can be anywhere between 3 and 14 days.
Do you have any advice for choosing garments and sizes?
If you are looking for garments suitable for ongoing, repeat orders, for example for a club or society, we would advise sticking to standard colours which are unlikely to be discontinued in the future.
You may also want to consider the range of garments you want to order now, and potentially in the future, for example tshirts, polo shirts and hoodies or fleeces. You would ideally want to choose all items from the same brand to ensure the best colour matching.
Also, bear in mind the range of sizes you will be purchasing for. Be aware that some brands do not have the full range of colours available in the full range of sizes (check the website product pages for the * symbol). However, we can generally substitute larger and smaller sizes from different brands where required, and will advise accordingly.
Our website gives size charts for each garment. These will include the chest ‘to fit’ size. General sizes of small, medium, ladies size 10, child age 7-8, etc, do vary between brands so it is always best to go by the chest measurement given.
The majority of ladies fit garments are very fitted styles and often quite short in the body.
It is always best to err on the side of caution and go for one size larger if in any doubt.
Please remember that personalised garments cannot be returned or exchanged due to incorrect size.
How do I make payment?
Payment instructions are sent along with confirmation sales order and demonstration artwork for approval prior to producing your order. You can either send a cheque, telephone with credit card details (Advertees does not store card details) or pay by internet bank transfer. Payment is required prior to your order being dispatched.
We can invoice some organisations such as scout and guide groups and schools, invoice is posted on dispatch of your order and is payable within 14 days.
What are your carriage charges?
Carriage is charged at cost to us, and depends on the size of the consignment. The usual charge is £10.00 to one UK mainland address. Larger consignments and overseas deliveries will be quoted for at the time of your enquiry.
We use Interlink for our delivery service. Standard delivery is Monday to Friday only, Saturday deliveries are available at a supplement. If you have provided us with an email address you will receive a confirmation email from Interlink when your order is out for delivery, with a web link allowing you to track your parcel.
Please bear in mind when advising your delivery address that someone will need to sign for the order.
Looking after your garments
What do I do if I have a complaint?
In the unlikely event that you are unhappy with your order, you should notify Advertees either by email or letter within 2 days of receipt of your order. On agreement with Advertees, you should then return the order to us. If fault is found, we will arrange for replacements to be issued and we will refund your costs incurred in returning the order.
This does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.
Screen Printing Questions
How do I work out my quantity rate for pricing? Can I mix and match garments and sizes?
Screen printing becomes cheaper the more garments you are having printed with the same design on one order. You can mix and match any combination of garments and sizes to make up a quantity, but to get the best price all garments have to be printed from the same screens. This means that the design will be the same size across all garments.
The prices on the product pages on this website include garment with 1 single colour screen print and are exclusive of VAT.
All quantity rates for pricing are PER DESIGN.
If you were to make smaller re-orders of the same design in the future (minimum order / re-order quantities apply), these would be priced at your original order quantity rate.
Do you charge for print colour changes within a print run?
Yes, we need to remove the required print screen, clean it thoroughly and set up again in order to change a print colour.
Print colour changes are charged at £7.50 exc of VAT per print colour change, with a minimum of 10 garments per print colour. If you were printing in 2 colours and wanted to change both print colours, this would cost £15.00 exc each time.
How do I work out the cost for additional print positions and print colours?
The prices on the product pages on this website include garment with 1 single colour screen print and are exclusive of VAT. To add extra print positions, eg sleeve, back, etc, or to add additional print colours to your design, please use the contract screen print rates.
Where we supply the garments to be printed, the first print screen is given free of charge. Screens for additional print colours and print positions are charged at £20.00 each exclusive of VAT. Screen charges are one-off charges and would not be payable on future re-orders of the same design (minimum order / re-order quantities apply).
For a full no obligation quotation, email info@advertees.co.uk. Please supply your design(s) and full details of your requirements, including garment type, garment colour and garment quantity.
Can I supply my own garments for screen printing?
Yes, we are happy to print garments supplied by you. For pricing, please use the contract screen print rates. All screens required are charged at £20.00 each exclusive of VAT. Screen charges are one-off charges and would not be payable on future re-orders of the same design (minimum order / re-order quantities apply).
Spoilage is rare but can happen during the printing process. It can be a good idea to supply extra garments in case of spoilage, depending on your requirements. Advertees is not liable to replace garments supplied by the customer which are spoiled during printing.
Do you have minimum order requirements for screen printing?
Yes, minimum order / re-order quantities apply as follows:
- 1-3 colour screen printing – 25 garments
- 4-6 colour screen printing – 50 garments
Do you store print screens for future use?
Can I add customisation to screen printed garments?
Is there a charge for artwork?
We can create basic artwork free of charge, all we require is that you provide the best quality design you can, we can work from a simple pencil sketch if that is all you have. Please send us your design in its final form, as you would like it to appear on the garment.
Where complex colour separations are involved, we may need to make a charge for this.
We will send demonstration artwork to you via email for approval before we proceed with an order.
What is your preferred format for sending artwork?
Artwork files can be supplied in most formats, Illustrator files are ideal. Vector graphics are our preferred option but files with extensions JPEG, TIFF, GIF and BMP, at actual size and at 600 dpi, are also good for us to work from. Artwork can be supplied on DVD, CD, or via email.
Artwork can also be provided on paper and, again, we would prefer this to be as near to actual size as possible. We try to return the artwork you provide with your order, but there is a risk of damage or loss. We cannot guarantee return, so please make copies.
Is there a difference between printing on light and dark coloured garments?
With water-based T shirt printing, for printing light colours onto darker coloured garments we can either use a discharge printing process or use an opaque water-based ink.
The discharge process bleaches the original colour from the tshirt, the print colour is then absorbed into the garment giving a soft feel to the finished print. This process is only really suitable for quantities of 50+ garments, to avoid wastage of materials used in the production process (discharge inks do not keep).
Alternatively, we can use opaque water-based inks which give a similar performance and feel to plastisols. These prints will feel more like plastisol but can be a good option as they will give brighter print colours than discharge inks on some tshirt colours. But where prints require more than 3 colours in a design we will use plastisol inks, our plastisol of choice is Wilflex phthalate free Epic range which we consider to be the best phthalate free plastisol currently available.
Are there any specific problems with discharge printing onto dark garments?
Yes. Some garment colours do not discharge very well at all, for example strong, bright colours such as purple, royal blue and kelly green. Black garments can also be problematic depending on the tshirt dye used. Additionally, discharge inks may not give a very bright print colour on some darker backgrounds. We may have to use opaque water-based inks or phthalate-free plastisol inks to achieve your required results, but we would always advise on the most appropriate way forward.
Please don’t hesitate to get in touch on 01872 561 044 if you need advice about colour selection and designing for this kind of printing.
Embroidery Questions
Do you charge for digitisation of embroidery designs?
We make a one-off charge of £15.00 excluding VAT to turn your design into an embroidery pattern for your first order. Repeat orders of the same design would not incur this charge.
For stock designs such as standard scout and guide logos this charge would not be applied. We may also be able to digitise small, simple designs free of charge for orders over 10 garments. If you are unsure whether you would need to pay for digitisation, just email your design and details of your order requirements to info@advertees.co.uk.
How do I work out my quantity rate for pricing? Can I mix and match garments and sizes?
Embroidery becomes cheaper the more garments you are having embroidered with the same design on one order. You can mix and match any combination of garments and sizes to make up a quantity. The prices on the product pages on this website include garment with 1 embroidery of up to 6,000 stitches (usually enough for most small, simple logos) and are exclusive of VAT.
All quantity rates for pricing are PER DESIGN.
If you were to make smaller re-orders of the same design in the future, these would be priced at your original order quantity rate (minimum order / re-order quantity requirements apply).
Do you have a minimum order requirement for embroidery?
How do I work out costs to add additional embroidered logos to a garment?
Embroidery prices are based on stitch count, so we would always need to see your design(s) before confirming a price.
For a full no obligation quotation, email info@advertees.co.uk. Please supply your design(s) and full details of your requirements, including garment type, garment colour and garment quantity.
Can I combine embroidery with screen printing on the same garments?
Yes, it is usual to have a small logo embroidered to the front of garments and a larger design or text screen printed to the back. You can work out costs for adding a screen print to the back of your garments from the contract screen print rates list, depending on quantity of garments to be printed. Remember to add the screen charge(s). Screen charges are one-off charges and would not be payable on future re-orders of the same design (minimum order / re-order quantity for screen printing in 1 colour is 10 garments).
We can also use heat-pressed vinyl for the addition of individual names, job or society titles or other customisation required to a garment order. The price for this would depend on the size and complexity of the design, as each is cut and pressed individually.
